Mission Statement

The number of people worldwide with diabetes has more than doubled during the past 20 years, with one of the most worrying features of this rapid increase being the emergence of type 2 diabetes in children, adolescents, and young adults.

Diabetes is a serious, sometimes life-threatening disease and over time, it can affect every part of your body. Kidney damage, nerve damage, amputations and blindness are all potential consequences of diabetes. It raises the risk of heart disease and according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health, at least 65% of people with diabetes die from heart disease or a stroke.
